7th Grade Ag in the Classroom Career exploration activity! Mrs. McKinley from the Cornell Cooperative Extension having students investigate and learn many different careers that are offered in agriculture! Students thinking hard... and sometimes being a little goofy too!
#GOPANTHERS!

Did you know that potatoes are one of the biggest agricultural products produced in Steuben County? The Tuesday before break our 5th grade students got a chance to visit a potato farm and learn about the process of growing potatoes from the ground to the dinner plate (or snack bag of chips!).
#GOPANTHERS!

The Tuesday before break our 7th grade students went on a field trip and learned about healthy eating, nutrition, and had pumpkin smoothies (delicious!!). Students also were able to participate in the auctioning processes for farm animals and got to walk through as the buyers and sellers. The auctioneer spoke to them about what the needs and wants of a buyer and seller, and then had them run a mock auction, guiding them, and having them try and sound like an auctioneer. They got to see where the animals are held and how they are managed.

As we move into December teaching our students about public service helps to show how we can help support our community. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving our National Honor Society helped to fill 960 backpacks with food for children in our area. We are creating successful citizens striving to make a positive difference in our world! The Foodbank of the Southern Tier is an amazing organization that helps so many people! Our CS Community Engagement Committee has put celebration/suggestion boxes in both schools. There are 5 located in strategic locations at each building. If you are at an event and see something you love, please let us know! If you have a suggestion, we would love to hear from you! We are also using these to celebrate and highlight people that make our school the best place it can be for our students and community!
