Elementary ELA Overview

We have established a Literacy Vision with a set of Core Beliefs and Best Practices that fully aligns our curriculum to the New York State Standards.

Literacy Vision: The Campbell-Savona Elementary school will develop and empower independent life-long readers, writers, and communicators who can:

-Collaborate to challenge and grow ideas

-Advocate for themselves in what they think, feel, and believe

-Apply literacy skills to real world situations

ELA Resources:

Campbell-Savona utilizes a structured literacy approach to instruction that incorporates several different resources and best practices to meet the individual needs of our students. Below are our main resources:

-SuperKids Primary Reading Program (K-2)

-Expeditionary Learning (Grades 3-6)

-Leveled Literacy Intervention for Tier 3 students (Grades K-6)

Middle School ELA Overview

As students move to the Jr./Sr. high school, they begin moving from class to class in a department-style structure with subject-specific teachers. 7th and 8th grade students are still primarily assessed by the NYS ELA tests.
